Alone

I’ve never felt more alone than today

A tiny dark stone in a sea of other pebbles' needs, wants, desires

I am unprotected as I hopelessly abrade against the other stones

They jostle back and forth seeking purposeful hurting in the multicolored flow

They swipe, jab, and spike me in the thick swill of deliberately moving quicksand

Holding daggers dripping with acidic inscriptions; Pariah, Adulterer, Imperfect

First swipes come from what I have created, built of my core, wholly rejecting me

That which I have helped to build each day from goodness, trust has cast me aside

I’ve become a hard dark rock among smooth pebbles carrying razor sharp knives

I am alone
